When I was a kid, I never really looked at toys as marketing vehicles. And actually, until Reagan deregulated back in the 80′s, you couldn’t market toys from TV shows. (Fun Fact: He-Man was the first TV show toy marketed to kids on television.) Movies however were a different story. And it didn’t even matter if the kids the studios were marketing to weren’t old enough to see the movies.
